Gonzaga University is a well-regarded private institution in the United States, known for its strong academic programs, supportive campus environment, and commitment to student success. Located in Spokane, the university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees and is especially recognized for programs in business, engineering, and the liberal arts.

Starting in the Fall 2026 semester, Gonzaga University is launching an exciting initiative called the Step Up Program, designed specifically to support international students both financially and professionally from the very beginning of their studies.

Step Up Program Overview

The Step Up Program provides guaranteed paid on-campus job opportunities for eligible international students starting from their first semester. Students who hold a Condition of Offer Letter (COL) for one of the following pathways can participate:

  • International Direct
  • Academic Accelerator Program
  • Graduate Direct
  • Advanced Master’s Accelerator Program

Through this initiative, students can earn between $5,000 and $10,000 during their first two semesters. In addition to financial benefits, the program offers valuable practical work experience in the United States, helping students build skills, confidence, and professional networks early in their academic journey.

This program also serves as a strong incentive for students to confirm their enrollment early, ensuring they can take full advantage of the opportunities provided.

How to Participate in the Step Up Program

To be part of the program, students must follow a structured process:

  • Deposit & Registration Form:
Pay the enrollment deposit within the required timeframe and complete the online Step Up registration form. The university team will provide guidance via email.
  • July (Online Preparation):
Attend virtual sessions focused on resume writing and interview preparation.
  • August (On-Campus Activities):
Participate in orientation, submit resumes, and attend interviews with various university departments.
  • September (SSN Session):
Attend an informational session on applying for a Social Security Number (SSN), which is necessary for employment in the U.S.

As long as students complete all required steps and submit documents on time, they will be eligible to apply for a variety of campus jobs.

Students in the Step Up Program can explore several on-campus roles, including:

  • Academic Peer Tutors
