What’s Changing?

From 21 January 2026, TOEFL iBT scores will be reported using a new 1–6 band scale.

During the 2-year transition period, score reports will include:

• A 1–6 band score
• A comparable 0–120 overall score
• Section scores displayed only on the 1–6 scale

UOW Acceptance (Academic)

• UOW accepts TOEFL iBT scores on the new 1–6 scale
• The 0–120 score format remains valid during the transition period
• There is no change to existing English language entry requirements

Critical Visa Information

• The redesigned TOEFL iBT is NOT accepted for Australian student visa purposes
• Visa requirements are determined by the Australian Department of Home Affairs
• Meeting UOW’s English requirements does not guarantee visa approval
